The Peavey DX 14 (also designated as the DX-14HF) is a professional-grade, high-frequency compression driver engineered to deliver crisp, accurate, and detailed top-end sound reproduction.
Built as a direct-fit replacement driver, it is primarily utilized to restore or repair the high-frequency performance of Peavey's Dark Matter series enclosures, specifically the DM 112 and DM 115 active loudspeakers.
It is also a highly effective upgrade option for older sound reinforcement cabinets, monitors, and custom line array builds requiring a rugged, standard thread-on high-frequency transducer.
Combining structural resilience with a lightweight moving mass configuration, the DX 14 features a solid titanium diaphragm driven by a precision copper-clad aluminum voice coil.
The voice coil is wound onto a high-temperature Kapton bobbin to safely dissipate thermal energy during continuous, high-SPL live audio demands.
This design limits power compression and ensures clear, non-distorted vocal projection, cymbal definition, and speech intelligibility across small to mid-sized sound reinforcement venues.
Features
One-Piece Titanium Diaphragm: Outfitted with a commercially pure titanium dome that maximizes sensitivity and extends high-frequency responsiveness while retaining its mechanical shape under load.
High-Temp Kapton Bobbin Assembly: Features a copper-clad aluminum voice coil wrapped around a heat-tolerant Kapton former.
This setup minimizes moving weight while maximizing electrical efficiency and cooling.
Direct Dark Matter Series Drop-In: Designed to factory dimensions as an exact replacement high-frequency component for Peavey DM 112 and DM 115 powered PA cabinets.
Universal Standard Horn Coupling: Equipped with a standard 1-3/8" - 18 TPI threaded throat socket, ensuring effortless mating with Peavey horns or compatible third-party screw-on waveguides.
Optimized Ferrite Motor Structure: Driven by a high-flux ferrite ceramic magnet that stabilizes the voice coil alignment and optimizes transient speed across the upper frequency bandwidth.
Great Upgrade for RX14 Assemblies: Shares a similar form factor and thread mount to classic Peavey RX14 drivers, making it a reliable physical swap to achieve enhanced clarity and power thresholds.
System Sensitivity Handling: 103 dB SPL @ 1W / 1m (On-axis on a 90° H x 40° V Horn waveguide)
Frequency Response Range: 1,000 Hz to 20,000 Hz
Nominal Transducer Efficiency: 28%
Recommended Dynamic Crossover: 2000 Hz at 12 dB / Octave
Lowest Safe Crossover Threshold: 1500 Hz at 12 dB / Octave
Diaphragm Material Composition: Commercially Pure Titanium Dome
Net Hardware Driver Weight: 2 lbs (0.91 kg)
Primary Application: Replacement HF component for Peavey DM112 and DM115 loudspeakers, mobile DJ speaker repairs, church installations, and multi-way PA monitor maintenance.
